From the Principal
Dear Families,
Here are some important reminders regarding school safety:
- Our new playground protocol goes into effect tomorrow, Monday, October 1st. This letter went out on Friday afternoon with more information:
- Spider web and monkey bars are off-limits for TK-1st grade students during school hours
- Spider web and monkey bars are off-limits for ALL students in the morning (8:15-8:30) before school starts
- Students are to wait to play on the playground in the morning until a yard duty supervisor is out to there to watch them.
- During drop off and pick up, please do not park in the loading zones on Fairmont Avenue and White Oak Way. It creates traffic jams and unsafe roads for our students.
- The pedestrian flags at Cedar St and White Oaks Way have disappeared! There were several put up at the start of school and they are all gone. Please help us by telling students these are put in place for safety reasons and they are not to be taken.
- If you are interested in driving on field trips this year, please make sure you return all the necessary paperwork to the office.
The teachers and staff at White Oaks greatly appreciate your partnership in maintaining a safe environment for our students.
Sincerely,
Leah Scholer, Principal

PTA Appreciation
Family Movie Night - It was great to see so many members of the White Oaks community participate in our first schoolwide event of the year. A big thank you to Ella Levin for organizing the food trucks and finding a last-minute replacement when one of the companies experienced a vehicle breakdown. And a special appreciation for the patience and understanding of those who waited in the long line or found creative solutions like ordering pizza. Please know that the plan was always to have two trucks! Thank you to Amy Kim for coordinating the movie and screen rental. If you have any feedback about the event or want to help our Special Events Chairs, Amy and Ella, plan activities this year, please contact them or come to our monthly PTA meeting. The next one is Wednesday, October 10 at 8:45 AM in the MU and all are welcome!
San Carlos Day of Service at White Oaks - A special shout out goes to Angela Holloszy and Natalie Joyce for coordinating the White Oaks' participation in the San Carlos Day of Service. Thank you for organizing the event and the volunteer efforts so our teachers could have cleanup and beautification projects done for their classroom and yard areas. Angela Holloszy leads our green team and can be contacted for additional information or volunteer opportunities throughout the year.
Thank you White Oaks Families!
We’d like to thank you and your families for all of your hard work and support at our White Oaks Beautification Day/Day of Service this past Sunday 9/23! The turnout was the biggest in years and we could not have accomplished all that we did without you!!! Thank you to those who came even for a short amount of time, those who went home to get tools to get the job done, and especially to those who stayed all day or came back for multiple shifts! We know time is precious, schedules are busy, and games are on and so we appreciate and recognize your time and support for White Oaks and our teachers!
Sincerely,
White Oaks Teachers,
Angela Holloszy and Natalie Joyce
*Wishes remain unfulfilled and there's still work to be done - reach out if you're interested.
