Principal’s Message

Dear Families,
You may be surprised to learn just how crucial regular attendance is, even from the earliest years of education.
DID YOU KNOW?
-
Starting in UTK and kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school.
Building good attendance habits early sets the foundation for academic success and helps children stay on track. -
Missing 10% of school days, which is just about 2 days each month over a school year, can make it harder for children to learn to read.
Consistent attendance helps children develop strong reading skills essential for all other learning. -
Even missing one or two days every few weeks can cause students to fall behind.
Regular attendance is key, as each school day provides valuable learning experiences. -
Being late to school may lead to poor attendance.
Arriving on time is important for a smooth start to the school day and ensures children don't miss out on learning activities. -
Absences and tardiness can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up.
Your child's attendance not only impacts their own learning but can also affect their classmates' learning experiences.
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school—and themselves. It builds a sense of belonging and confidence. By starting this habit early, you are helping your child understand that going to school on time every day is important. These habits will benefit them not only now but also in high school, college, and beyond.
Thank you for your commitment to your child's education and well-being. Let’s make this a year of great learning and growth! Remember when you are not here…We will miss you.
In community,
Rosina Tong
Principal
