Principals Message

Dear White Oaks Families,

This week we celebrated Staff Appreciation Week. I want to thank and commend our entire staff for their hard work and dedication. Our staff works diligently to support students with their scholastic endeavors. They also strive to create a caring and safe environment where every child can thrive.

I am especially thankful for and appreciative of the collegiality, collaboration, and communication between our teachers and support staff (our behavior technicians, counselors, custodians, paraeducators, speech therapists, and school psychologist).

We saw many of you at our 75th annual Founder’s Day celebration on Wednesday evening and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the honor of receiving the Golden Oak Award. My heart is full and it is such a bittersweet moment to be moving forward in my career here in San Carlos. I love White Oaks very much and am beyond grateful for the community here. I also want to congratulate the other recipients of this year’s awards as well as a “good luck” and “goodbye” to our amazing Lisa Gonzales and Kim Arasato as they prepare for retirement at the end of the school year.

Warmly,

Leah Scholer, Principal

Reminder to fill out the PTA Parent Survey

At White Oaks, we believe everyone is welcome and deserves to be seen and heard. We are asking you to fill out a short survey so we can better understand the current makeup of our families as we plan for various diversity initiatives and strive to accurately represent and support our community. Individual survey responses are strictly confidential but top-line results may be shared with the community. PLEASE FILL OUT ONE FORM PER FAMILY.

Join our PTA Playground Committee! Help Us Make it a Better Space Where All Kids Can Thrive!

We hear you! We've had lots of requests for various improvements in the playground and outside space on campus. Here's your chance to give a little of your time that will have years of impact for our kids! Kids thrive on outdoor play, and this space shapes how they learn, make friends, solve problems, burn energy and grow in so many ways. We're creating a committee to gather ideas and create a proposal for the School District to implement. Sign up here

As this project will likely take some time, we're establishing the committee now so we can hit the ground running next school year. Initial ideas include introducing shade structures, more turf, including sensory play options, better access for physically disabled students, and other enhancements.

Thank you for your Thank you's

Thank you to all the families for showing how much we appreciate teachers and staff this past week! The teachers and staff really appreciated the snacks, coffee, cards, flowers, lunch, goodie bags and smoothies! Special thanks for moms Juliana, Neetal, Paige, Tiffany, Courtney, Linda, and Annie.

Look out for volunteer signups next year to get in on the appreciation action!
