ABILITY AWARENESS RESOURCES FOR PARENTS & KIDS

ABILITY AWARENESS RESOURCES FOR PARENTS & KIDS

The School District recently held the annual ‘Ability Awareness’ week and this is a perfect opportunity for us to recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of disabled people, as well as gaining a better understanding of the unique talents of, and challenges faced by, some of our students.

Our Culture & Belonging PTA committee has created a parents guide with a number of parenting support resources for those with children with additional support needs. This provides a wealth of information on a number of topics such as neurodiversity, where to get help, additional support needs, parent support groups book recommendations and MUCH more! We would like this to be a 'living' resource, so if you have any recommendations you’d like to add, please share with Barbara Taylor ([email protected]) and/or Mariel Valezzi ([email protected]).

We've also curated a collection of Ability Awareness related activities to share with your children at home like learning ASL, picture book lists, crafts and occupational therapy practices to use at home!
