Principals Message

Dear White Oaks Families,

We are jumping right into a fabulous year! It was so heartwarming to see our campus bustling with excitement this past week.It feels so good to have the school alive again with the laughter and chatter of little voices.

Please take some time to browse our website to get to learn more about our school. Remember that Thursday, 8/29, is our Back to School Night (parents only). Join me for my Principal’s Welcome from 5:30 - 5:55 pm in the MU and visit your classroom from 6:00 - 6:30 pm (TK-1) and 6:40 - 7:10 pm (2 - 30. Friday, 8/30, is a minimum day and dismissal will be 12:25 pm for all students.

Welcome Wednesday

This Wednesday, 8/28, will be our first Welcome Wednesday of the year! This morning assembly starts promptly at 8:25 - 8:40 am and is not optional for students (still considered tardy if not in line). Parents are invited to stay and if you are able to join us, please be sure to stand behind the lines of students so everyone can see and hear. Each week, we will share announcements, learn about White Oaks and our students, and sing our school song.

Breakfast and Lunch

Breakfast should be picked up by the child (parents can walk their child directly to the kitchen) in the morning from 8:15 am until when the bell rings to line up for class at 8:25 am. If they grab it right at 8:15 am, the child needs to sit at a lunch table and eat before lining up for class. (There is no walking around eating) If they are running behind and grab it right before the bell rings, then they will have to put it in their backpack until snack time to eat it.

When Late Birds start, they can pick up breakfast in the office on their way to their classroom.

Snack is not provided as part of this program. Please continue to send your child to school with a healthy snack.

Lunch is picked up as usual. On their way to lunch, they need to stop by the kitchen to pick up their food. The child will tell the lunch server their name and they will be given lunch. Nothing needs to be done on your end but you can view the menu options here

Drop Off/Pick Up Reminders

You may have noticed a sign at the playground entrance with a "students only" reminder. By asking parents, caregivers, and preschool siblings to stay off the yard, we are able to provide a safe space for active play. Our "students only" routine also allows supervisors to see the children playing and be visible when students need help

PARKING: Please remember that Fairmont Ave and both the East and West White Oak Way cul de sac are loading zones only and cars are not to park there from 7:30 am - 3:00 pm. If you would like to park and walk your child in, please do so on another street. Also, please be aware that you are not blocking any of the neighbors driveways.

ATTENDANCE: Attendance is very important for our elementary school students. Please be sure that your child is at school by the time the bell rings at 8:25 am to get their day started off right!

Every Day Counts!

Did you know that student attendance is a strong predictor of academic success? Missing just 10% of the school year—about 15 days—can significantly impact a child's performance. By 6th grade, chronic absenteeism becomes a major warning sign for potential high school dropout. Let's work together to improve attendance! Regular attendance is essential for building strong reading and math skills, fostering good habits, and setting the foundation for future success in college and careers. Missing school not only hinders academic progress but also affects social-emotional development. If your child is sick, please contact our school administrative assistant. If you have concerns about getting your child to school, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Principal. Together, we can support your child’s growth and success!

Universal meals are offered to all students in grades TK-8th grade at breakfast and lunch every school day. We are thrilled to share that we have new ovens to allow for on site warming of the food prepared by The LunchMaster! Heating foods closer to the time of service will result in fresher tasting items and improve the experience of our students who chose to participate in our free meal service.

Meals are ordered by the school site based on student preference and participation. A variety of options will be available for breakfast and lunch for any student who would like a meal. Please visit our School Lunch page for more information.

Each year we ask that all families fill out the EZ Meal Application to benefit your family, school, and community even if you do not believe you will qualify based on your income. Completing this form helps your school receive more funding to support your child’s learning environment. The application is used to calculate school funding levels from the state and federal level. Please visit ouFree & Reduced-Price EZMeal Application webpage for more information.
