Principals Message

Dear White Oaks Families,

Our San Carlos School District Caregiver Survey results are in! 117 parents and guardians completed our family survey this school year.

In many areas, 90% or more of responses were favorable. Here are some of the highlights:

  • I agree that White Oaks has adults that really care about their students (96%)

  • I agree that White Oaks communicates the importance of respecting different cultural beliefs and practices (99%)

  • I agree that White Oaks encourages parents to be an active partner with the school in educating children (97%)

  • I agree that White Oaks promotes academic success for all students (96%)

Areas for Continued Conversations

Family responses also highlighted a need for continued conversations in some areas. We are considering these topics as we set goals and plan budgets for the school year ahead:

  • How we provide instructional materials that reflect all students’ culture, ethnicity, and identity

  • How we ensure support staff are available to students when they need them

  • How we create quality programs for students’ talents, gifts, or special needs

If you would like more information, or to engage in a conversation to review survey results, please contact me.

Sincerely,
Leah Scholer
Principal

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is Coming!

National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10! If you have been wanting to thank teachers and staff for their dedication at White Oaks, Appreciation Week is the perfect time. It's not too late to join the Appreciation Committee-- contact your WO Teacher and Staff Appreciation chair, Doug Okamoto to help say "Thanks" in a very special way. Also, if you are a room parent, you may be thinking of doing something special for your teacher within the classroom. If this is the case, and you haven't yet reached out, please reach out to the committee so that we can best coordinate efforts. Thank you so much!

The Art Show at Celebration of Learning Night

Attention all parent volunteers! It's that time for our fabulous Art in Action art show, happening on May 22 during the Celebration of Learning Night.  Right now, AIA class coordinators are working with teachers to select the art pieces to be displayed (thank you, AIA class coordinators!). Then, from May 9-14, we will need your help with mounting and hanging artwork--any help is greatly appreciated. Your AIA class coordinator will be providing more information; please reach out to your class coordinator and also feel free to contact your WO AIA site coordinator, Doug Okamoto with additional questions.  Thank you from the bottom of our arts!

It's Time to Complete Your Annual Back-To-School InfoSnap Forms ASAP

Each spring, we ask families with students in TK-7th grade to complete their annual Back-To-School student information forms through PowerSchool online. This allows families to update/add emergency contact information, give permissions, update health records (allergy or medical considerations), and is required to secure your spot for the next school year.

In March, you should have received an email titled (2024-25) Back-To-School Form Instructions from noreplyregistration@powerschool.com. This email contains detailed instructions on how to update your child's records and confirm their enrollment for the next academic year. Additionally, it will include a link to access the PowerSchool portal and a unique ID number for your student, referred to as the "Snap Code." Please complete these forms ASAP - deadline was Friday, April 5.

PowerSchool had some difficulty with the rollout of the forms, so please reach out to your school or [email protected] if you did not receive your email. If you need assistance on how to complete the form, please see this video for assistance on how to access your back-to-school forms. We genuinely appreciate your cooperation in this essential process.

If your plans have changed and you no longer intend to return for the next academic year, please notify your school office ASAP.
