Principals Message

Dear White Oaks families,

September is Attendance Awareness Month, which provides an opportunity to educate our community about the importance of school attendance and the impact it can have on your student’s educational experience. Our school strives to create an engaging, inviting learning environment where all are welcome here. As our students arrive in the morning, each day that they attend out of the 180 school days in a year provides us as a staff with the opportunity to get them excited about learning, engage in relationship building with peers, create classroom community, and experience hands-on lessons with their teachers and classmates. Please take a moment to read this information regarding school attendance

Sincerely,
Leah Scholer
Principal

Family Movie Night and Food Trucks - Friday, Sept. 29

Join us for our PTA Family Movie Night Friday, Sept. 29 starting at 5:30 p.m. Bring your blankets or chairs for a night of fun with our school community! Food trucks will be at the White Oaks cul-de-sac for purchase, or you can bring your own picnic dinner. Popcorn will be provided by the PTA. The movie will be Despicable Me on the lawn and will start at sundown, approximately 7:00 p.m. We are excited for this popular family event and look forward to seeing you! Please, no wheels on campus. Park your bikes, scooters, or skateboards in the bike racks.

The PTA recognizes that every family makes their own decisions about which movies are appropriate for their children’s age, temperament and maturity. If you are looking for information to help you decide whether to attend the movie portion, consider reading the review provided by Common Sense Media.

As a corporate sponsor, your company will have prominent placement in all our digital channels, including our website, weekly newsletter and social channels. Most importantly, your logo will appear on all the Walk-a-Thon T-shirts!! Send in your completed form.

Join Us for Peacebank kidsYoga Through Legarza!

kidsYoga with Peacebank is a playful, active, and engaging experience that invites children to connect with their bodies, minds, and peers with curiosity and compassion. Children will explore yoga asanas (poses) and mindfulness practices through movement, stories, songs, games, partner and group activities, and more.

Though each class is unique, themes and activities are designed to present age-appropriate challenges and opportunities to practice facing obstacles and regulating emotions through intentional movement, breathing techniques, grounding exercises, meditation, and more. Children will learn how to develop essential self-care strategies, gain valuable self-awareness, and build self-confidence that extends beyond the yoga mat and into everyday life. Classes will also include meaningful lessons about respecting oneself, community, and the environment – all while having fun with friends! Register here.

Art Takes a Bus Ride 2023-2024

We invite all San Mateo County students in grades 1-12 to participate in an art competition sponsored by the San Mateo County Transit District and the San Mateo County Office of Education. This year’s theme is Exploring Nature with SamTrans.

SamTrans provides service to parks and nature preserves all over San Mateo County, and we want to reflect these stunning outdoor spaces on their buses. This year’s submissions will celebrate the environment and the great outdoors.

Student work will be judged against others in the same grade, depending on participation. Artwork must be created by students only. See flyers in English and Spanish for more information.
