Book of the Month
Our Book of the Month for March-April is Skin Like Mine by Latashia M. Perry. In this book the author has a creative way to address and celebrate diversity among young children. Teachers will use this book as a springboard for discussions around appreciating the differences between all of us and respecting one another.
Fostering the Love of Literacy
As we head into the last couple of months of school, we want to emphasize the importance of nurturing the love of literacy both at school and at home. Whether you are reading aloud to your child or they are reading on their own, research shows that the more books a child reads, the stronger their brain development is:

White Oaks Appreciation and Upcoming Events
Thank you to everyone who joined us on Wednesday at our PTA social. It was great to see so many new faces. We are excited for all the fun we have planned for the remainder of the year.
We would love to see you at the next PTA meeting, where we will be talking about the upcoming Walk-a-Thon, Staff Appreciation Week, and Movie Night, as well as discussing what you, our incredible parents, hope to see next year. We welcome new ideas and feedback on the different ways the PTA can continue to bring our community together.

Last Call: Walk-a-Thon T-shirt Design Entries Due Monday
Calling all student artists! The PTA needs help with our 2022 Walk-a-Thon featured design! All students are invited to create a simple, one-color line drawing that represents our school and this fun event. Use a thick black marker on white paper. Then submit your artwork to the office, or email a picture or scan to [email protected] no later than Monday, March 21. The winning design will be featured on this year’s T-shirt.

On May 4, the White Oaks community is coming together to celebrate our amazing volunteers and teachers at the annual Founders’ Day! We are so excited to have Founders’ Day in person again and thrilled to bring back the White Oaks Choir for this amazing night. All White Oaks students who love to sing are invited to join the choir! Every year for the past several decades, the White Oaks community has celebrated Founders’ Day — a time-honored tradition to recognize volunteers who have gone above and beyond to help build our school community. White Oaks families, ready to watch some baseball? This year, we’re hosting our annual ALL FAMILY baseball event to watch the Stanford Cardinal take on the Arizona State Sun Devils on Sunday, April 10, at 1:05 p.m. in Palo Alto. When you buy a ticket, you will be entered into our White Oaks raffle to win Stanford Baseball swag, and one lucky third-grader could win a chance to be a junior announcer at the game. Online Silent Auction Closes Tomorrow at 9 p.m.
Don’t miss your chance to bid on teacher outings, summer camps, and more in SCEF’s Online Silent Auction! Our generous educators have created outings for you to bid on for your child. These are a fantastic way to have fun and support SCEF. Enter your school’s name in the “Find Auction Item” box, and click to bid.
Other great silent auction offerings include a Firehouse dinner and tour; PS4 console and games; orthodontics; cheese; wine, beer, and whiskey of all types; restaurant gift cards; parties; vacation homes; trips; and outdoor activities.

It’s Time to Complete Your InfoSnap Registration Forms for Fall 2022
Each spring, SCSD asks ALL families to complete their annual registration forms through PowerSchool (InfoSnap) online. Your timely completion of this process will help us have the most accurate numbers of returning students for the 2022-23 school year, which are directly tied to the SCSD budget and will help the district plan for staffing needs more effectively.

The deadline to complete your InfoSnap forms is April 1. Please do this ASAP. If you are not planning to return to our district next year, please notify your school office as soon as possible.

COVID Reminders: Stay Home When Sick and Get Tested

San Carlos Planning Division Seeks Input on Protected Tree Ordinance
Recognizing the importance of trees to our community, the City of San Carlos has prepared a new Protected Tree Ordinance to thoughtfully manage this valuable natural resource.
