Principal's Message: First Day of School Reminders

Dear White Oaks Families,

We are excited to welcome you all back tomorrow! Here are some reminders:

Campus will be opened at 8:15 a.m., and teachers will be waiting on the playground blacktop to welcome students. We'll ask parents to help children join playtime on their own as much as possible to limit the number of adults on the yard. You will notice a sign at the playground entrance with a "students only" reminder. By asking parents, caregivers, and preschool siblings to stay off the yard, we are able to provide a safe space for active play. Our "students only" routine also allows supervisors to see the children playing and be visible when students need help.

There will be hand sanitizer available to students as they enter the playground, and at 8:25 a.m., the bell will ring, and students will line up in front of their classroom's cone on the blacktop to meet their teacher. They should be masked and ready to enter their classroom!

Students should come to school tomorrow with a backpack, healthy snack*, water bottle, and masks (please bring extra!)

*Lunch will only take place at school on M, T, Th, and F. Because Wednesdays are minimum days (8:25 a.m.-12:25 p.m.), students do not eat lunch at school. You may still order lunch for your child, but they will pick it up as they leave for home or bring it with them to their after-school program.

 

We are returning to our pre-COVID pickup procedures, and you'll need to refer to your child's classroom teacher for specifics. If you are unsure of your classroom pickup procedures, please email the teacher.

 

Parents, please join us in front of the office by the lunch tables to learn more about our amazing PTA. It is a great time to meet other parents and sign up for the activities and events that you’d like to be involved in this year, when we are able to add back several much-missed events and volunteer opportunities. I look forward to seeing you all there!
