White Oaks Weekly - January 3, 2021

From the Principal

Dear White Oaks Families,

I hope you all were able to relax and have some home-grown fun during winter break! 2021 is the start of a new year - filled with aspirations and optimism. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 5 and we are all refreshed and ready to meet our students on Zoom and hopefully in person on campus very soon.

Monday, January 4 is a Professional Development Day for teachers. Teachers will spend time analyzing the results of the math benchmark test that students took towards the end of 2020. They will use data charts from Illuminate, our data system, and analyze patterns to help drive instruction including what standards need to be revisited and next steps for instruction. In addition, teachers will begin their work with Inclusion Counts, which will continue over the next two years. This effort will focus on strengthening our work on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

San Mateo County Library Resources
No matter what life throws our way, a library in our community seems to always have the lights on, even when it’s dark outside in more ways than one. Libraries are featured as much more than a place to get a great book. As the pandemic continued this year, the San Mateo County Library system thought differently and creatively about how to adapt. I wanted to share all of the resources that they have available to your student. The link provides a list of virtual support for all of our students that I wanted to bring to your attention. Did you know about the Grab and Go Book Bundles offered during Curbside Pickup at the San Carlos Library? If you have any questions, please contact the library at [email protected].

I’m looking forward to continuing to work with our White Oaks community in supporting our students’ social-emotional and academic growth!

Warmly,

Leah Scholer, Principal

All registration paperwork will be completed online and parents will be asked to upload their documents into the system. More details will be available on our SCSD website in January.
