From the Principal
Dear Families,
This coming week is conference week at White Oaks. All students will attend 8:35 am – 12:35 pm starting on Wednesday, October 2nd - Tuesday, October 8th. We look forward to partnering with you in support of your child’s happiness, engagement, and success.
What to Expect at the Conference:
- Time to share your hopes and questions with the teacher
- An update on your child’s progress, with a focus on the academic, social and/or emotional goals that are most relevant for your child
- Samples of “on grade level” work to help you gauge your child’s current progress and where next steps fall on a continuum of learning
- Tools for home, including a homework menu with recommendations about which options best match your child’s learning goals
We want to know how our approach is working to empower parents with early and ongoing feedback about student progress, as well as resources to help at home. Please share your feedback directly with your child’s teacher throughout the year.
We look forward to the opportunity to talk about your child’s personal learning strengths and goals during the week ahead.
Reminder: Please stop by our Lost and Found before or after your conference next week. Our collection is growing by the day!
Sincerely,
Leah Scholer, Principal

Walk to School Wednesday
Reminder that this Wednesday, October 2, 2019 is Walk to School Wednesday! We will be at school to pass out charms to our walkers, scooters, and bikers. Look for the balloons to find your charm. This week, we will be recording all modes of travel and the school district will be providing colorful shoelaces to students who made active choices. If all of our students substituted walking for driving for just 1 mile a day, 1,216kg of CO2 would never be released into the air. That's the equivalent of planting 8 trees in just one day!
We are still in need a few volunteers to help pass out charms the first Wednesday of each month. Please email Shipeng Fu if you would like to volunteer.
