Principal’s Message

Dear White Oaks Families, 

We appreciate our PTA presidents, Hera Kan and Shadia Damra, and thank them for their work and service. We are so happy and grateful that you’ve stepped up to the role!  You deserve an Owl Trophy!

Positive Recognition at Lunch

I’m proud of our students and the effort they are making to do things the White Oaks Way! They are practicing being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe, especially during lunchtime.

Our lunchtime expectations are for students to:

• Sit at their class tables while eating lunch.

• Raise their hands when they need to use the restroom or get water.

• Keep their tables and eating areas clean.

We’ve started a weekly recognition to celebrate classes that are doing a great job following these expectations. Two classes are honored each week with a special White Oaks owl to keep in their classroom for the entire week. Congrats to Room G, 10, B and 11 for receiving the owls already!  It’s a fun way to recognize students for being respectful, responsible, and safe and to celebrate the positive choices they are making each day!

Safety

Safety is our priority at White Oaks.  White zones on Fairmont Street and White Oak Way are for drop-off and pick-up only. Please do not park or leave your vehicle unattended in this area. If you need to walk your child into school, you need to find a parking spot. 

When cars are parked in the loading zone, other vehicles are forced to drive around them, which creates significant traffic backups and can cause cars to block the crosswalk. This creates a safety concern for our students and families.

We have formed a Safety Committee and if you’d like to join, please let me know. Thank you for your patience and for helping us keep arrival and dismissal safe for everyone.

Walk to School Wednesdays Starting Soon

Walk to School Wednesdays!

We’re excited to kick off Walk to School Wednesdays! On the first Wednesday of every month, students who walk to school will receive a new charm at the front gates to collect each time they participate!

Walk, collect, and see how many charms you can earn throughout the year. We can’t wait to see you walking!

Family Movie Night - Fri, Oct 2

Family Movie Night is back! Mark your calendars for Friday, Oct 2 for our family movie night hosted at the White Oaks playground. We'll have food trucks available to make for an easy, fun night for the whole family. Movie will begin at sundown (around 7 p.m.) with food trucks available earlier.

Book Fair Is Open Online — Plus, We Need Volunteers for the In-Person Event!

Book Fair Is Open Online! This year's Online Book Fair is now open, running September 7 through October 9. Proceeds support our school's library!

Calling All Artists for the White Oaks Walk-a-Thon Design Contest - Due Sept. 21

The annual Walk-a-Thon T-shirt design contest is under way and open to all students. Create a simple, one-color line drawing that represents White Oaks and our Walk-a-Thon tradition, and the winning artwork will be featured on this year's T-shirts! To enter, draw your design using a BLACK Sharpie on WHITE paper, then submit your design to the office or via email to [email protected] by Sept. 21!

PTA Business Sponsorship Opportunity

With the upcoming Walk-a-thon, family members who own small businesses have the opportunity to register to be a PTA small business sponsor for the 2026-2027 school year. Limited spots remain and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

A $1000 business sponsorship includes the following benefits:

--logo on banners that are prominently displayed on campus                                                                         --logo on the back of Walk-a-thon T-shirts (there are many opportunities for students to wear their T-shirts throughout the school year)                                          --opportunity to set-up a table at the Walk-a-thon to meet and network with families                                    --logo publicized in the school-wide weekly newsletter --marketing opportunities throughout the school year

Register for the Second Annual Cornhole Tournament, Sunday October 25!

Grab a partner and join us for an afternoon of cornhole, food, drinks, and community, all in support of San Carlos schools. No experience needed! Round-robin play gets everyone in the game before top teams head to brackets for prizes. SIGN UP HERE before Oct. 19.

Open to everyone – order raffle tickets and support your student! You could win a Dinner for 20 in the Boardroom at Town, a Bianchini’s Shopping Spree, or a 5-Night All-Inclusive Getaway for Two to Mexico or the Dominican Republic. Second and third place winners receive a gift card to TOWN or Alpine Inn. Drawing will be held at 8:00pm at the TOWN Dinner on October 4, 2026. Winners need not be present to win. Understanding Local School Funding: What Do Bond Dollars Pay For?

Bond funding, such as Measure H, supports long-term improvements to our school facilities—including classrooms, roofs, windows, doors, HVAC systems and modernization projects.

You can see those dollars at work across San Carlos schools, creating safer, more comfortable and climate-ready learning environments for students and staff.

An important distinction: By law, bond funds cannot be used for ongoing expenses such as teacher and staff salaries or educational programs.

That’s why different sources of local funding serve different purposes.

Bonds = Buildings. Parcel Taxes = People + Programs.

Kids Night Out (Grades K - 4)

At Kids Night Out, participants can make new friends while bonding over a themed craft, game, movie, and pizza dinner. This once-a-month program gives parents/guardians a chance to relax, unwind, or go on a date. Upcoming theme is Super Mario Madness on Friday, October 2. Each session costs $40 and takes place at the Youth Center from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Register for Kids Night Out!
