Principal’s Message

Dear White Oaks Families,
I sign all of my messages with “In community” because I truly believe that together, we can accomplish great things. As a community, we provide our students with what they need most: love, care, understanding, learning opportunities, encouragement, and support. Our teachers, aides, support staff, parents, caregivers, and community partners each play an important role in helping our students grow and thrive.
We have had a wonderful school year together, and I am deeply grateful for the support you have shown during my first year at White Oaks. It has been a joy getting to know our students, families, and staff, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a caring and dedicated school community.
At the heart of White Oaks are our exceptional teachers and staff. Every day, they bring compassion, expertise, and commitment to our students. They work tirelessly to create a safe and supportive learning environment where every child can succeed. I am inspired by their dedication and the positive impact they make on the lives of our students.
As we look ahead to the 2026–2027 school year, we will have a few staffing changes. While it is always difficult to say goodbye to valued members of our team, we are grateful for their contributions to White Oaks and wish them all the best in their next chapters. We are also excited to welcome new team members who will join our community and continue the important work of supporting our students and families.
We are saying goodbye to Ms. Jacey Phipps in second grade and Ms. Kiyomi Arai in the third grade and thank them for their service and care for our students. We wish them all the best as they move on to other school districts.
Best wishes to our outgoing second grade teacher, Ms. Phipps:
Dear White Oaks,
First, I’d like to thank all of you for your warmth, support, and collaboration during my four years here. It has been an absolute privilege to spend this time with your families and to be part of this wonderful school community. The connections I've made with your children, the trust you've placed in me, and the shared moments of growth and discovery have filled my heart in ways I never expected. The memories we've created together—the laughter, the breakthroughs, the quiet victories—will stay with me forever and remind me why I do this work. Thank you for making my time here so deeply meaningful; you've given me a gift I'll carry with me always.
Ms. Jacey Phipps
Best wishes to our outgoing third grade teacher, Ms. Arai:
Dear White Oaks Families and Friends,
White Oaks is a special place because of the people who make up this community. I have been honored to work with the most dedicated teachers, administrators, and support team members. I am incredibly grateful for the relationships I have built with students, families, and colleagues over the years. While I am excited for the next chapter, leaving White Oaks is bittersweet. This community has been so much more than a workplace. It has been a place of growth, connection, laughter, and learning. It is truly a special place to be a part of. Thank you for allowing me to be part of this special community. White Oaks will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will carry the lessons, friendships, and memories I have made here wherever I go.
With love,
Ms. Kiyomi Arai
We welcome Ms. Talia Lamb as our second grade teacher.
Hi White Oaks Families!
My name is Talia Lamb and I am absolutely thrilled to join White Oaks Elementary School as a 2nd-grade teacher! As a proud White Oaks alum, some of my favorite childhood memories happened right here, and I can't wait to foster that same love for learning in my own classroom. This will be my 19th year teaching, and I focus on creating a supportive, positive space where students can be creative, independent, and enthusiastic learners. Outside of school, I live locally with my husband and three kids. We love outdoor adventures, cooking and baking together in the kitchen, and watching local sports teams. I am looking forward to an amazing year ahead with our wonderful families!
Ms. Talia Lamb
We welcome Ms. Eryn Heon as our third grade teacher.
Hello families!
My name is Eryn Heon, and I am excited to be joining White Oaks Elementary School as a 3rd grade teacher this upcoming school year. I have been teaching 3rd grade for the past 7 years and love creating a positive, engaging classroom where students feel supported and excited to learn.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and cheering on Bay Area sports teams. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year and getting to know all of the students and families!
Ms. Eryn Heon

Your child’s class assignments will be available in August in Power School. Please watch for additional back-to-school information in August.
This summer, we encourage families to make time for outdoor activities, creative projects, imaginative play, reading, and opportunities to explore new interests. The San Carlos Library will host a variety of events for children and families throughout the summer. San Mateo County Libraries’ 2026 Summer Adventure is a free program for all ages and abilities. Families can participate in reading, creative activities, and local events throughout the summer. You may also want to explore educational apps recommended by Common Sense Media. The learning apps students have used this year will remain available through ClassLink until the end of July. While summer time is a great break, it’s also important for our learners to have consistency and practice. So keep up with summer reading!
As we close the 2025-2026 school year, I express my deepest gratitude to all the stakeholders in the White Oaks community for your contribution and collaboration. Together, we give the students what they need to succeed and thrive! It’s been my honor to serve the school as principal and I look forward to a restful summer to do the wonderful work again with you in the coming school year!
In community,
Rosina Tong
Principal

Volunteer to be a Buddy Family!
We'd love to encourage families to sign up to be UTK/Kinder Family Buddies. This cherished White Oaks tradition pairs current families with incoming UTK/Kinder families to help them feel welcomed and connected to our community.
Being a Family Buddy is a wonderful way to support new families by serving as a resource and helping answer questions over the summer and at the start of the school year. Many first-time families feel a bit nervous, and having a friendly family to connect with can make all the difference.
To volunteer, please fill out this form by June 10th!
