Principal’s Message

Dear White Oaks Families,
It’s amazing that we are already at the end of April. Time flies when we are busy and having fun! The students are learning so much and we are looking forward to recognizing all the success of this school year at our Celebration of Learning event on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 6-7:00 p.m. (please note that this date was mistakenly scheduled for 5/21/26).
Our schedule for the Celebration of Learning is as follows for the evening:
6:00–6:30 ~ grades UTK, K and 1
6:30-7:00 ~ grades 2-3
During this evening, you will visit the classrooms and see some of the work your students’ have accomplished. We are so proud of our students and want to celebrate them with you! Mark your calendars for the Celebration of Learning!
We have a very special White Oaks event this Friday, May 1, 2026 - May Day. It’s one of our most favorite White Oaks traditions. It’s been happening since the 1960’s. On this special day, students decorate paper baskets and fill them with homegrown flowers and then enjoy walking around the neighborhood delivering their Spring “goodies" with their buddies. Over the years our students have made some memories: from receiving thank you cards, meeting puppies, visiting gardens, and even being given treats! We are looking forward to this warm community tradition!
In community,
Rosina Tong
Principal

Celebrate Arab American Heritage Month!
April is Arab American Heritage Month! It’s a time for us to learn about, and celebrate, Arab culture and the contributions of Arabs and Arab Americans past and present. We are proud to have many families with Arabian heritage in our White Oaks community including families with links to Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia!

Make it Happen in May is Around the Corner. Help Us Cross the Finish Line!
Our community has shown incredible support this year—but we still have $700,000 to raise to reach our goal. If you haven’t yet made your annual fund donation, please consider giving in May. The School Board and PTAs are beginning to finalize budgets for next school year, and the sooner they know the size of our grant, the better they can plan for students. Visit https://www.scefkids.org/ways-
Consider making your gift through appreciated stock or payroll deduction—many local employers also offer matching gifts, which can significantly increase your impact. Check our website to see what your employer offers. Please note: Workplace giving donations can take 8–10 weeks to process and reach the Foundation. Planning ahead ensures your gift is counted in this fiscal year. If you have a Donor Advised Fund, SCEF is a 501(c)(3) organization and can accept DAF donations.
Thank you to the SCEF 2026 Platinum Sponsors for their extraordinary commitment to San Carlos public schools: Chang Orthodontics, Summerhill Apartment Communities, Black Mountain Properties and Wendy Wood Illustration + Design. We are grateful to them for their generous support!
