Principal’s Message

~Please notify both your child’s teacher and the school office in advance if you plan to pick up your child during the school day.
This communication is very important. At times, classes may be outside of their regular classroom (for example, at recess, PE, or in another learning space), and the school may also be conducting emergency drills. When we know ahead of time about an early pickup, it helps staff quickly and safely locate your child and coordinate the pickup process.
Thank you for your partnership in helping us keep all students safe~
Dear White Oaks Families,
March is a full month as we celebrate Women’s History Month, Abilities Awareness Week, and Heritage Day on Wednesday, March 18. These celebrations remind us of the many stories that shape who we are as individuals and as a community. We are excited that 35 of our families will be sharing in the Multi-Use Room 27 different cultures during Heritage Day. We’ll be learning about traditions, languages, and experiences from around the world. Where we come from shapes us, and when we share our stories, we help children better understand themselves and one another.
A strong sense of belonging is essential to our well-being. At White Oaks School, we want every student to feel safe, valued, and proud of who they are. Our teachers, counselor, office team, aides, and the entire White Oaks staff work together each day to nurture our students and teach them to be respectful, kind, and inclusive of all people. We celebrate all the different cultures that we come from as well as our different abilities. Our San Carlos School District Learner Profile encourages our students to be empathetic, curious, and collaborative learners who value different perspectives. When students learn to appreciate differences and honor each person’s unique strengths, they help create a caring and connected community. This makes White Oaks a special place!
I’m excited to celebrate with you the women in our lives, the different abilities, and the many heritages that make up our school!
In community,
Rosina Tong
Principal

DONATE A BOOK FOR HERITAGE DAY!
In honor of Heritage Day, consider donating a book that represents your family heritage! Ideas include a favorite folk tale, a book about a landmark or famous location, a cultural celebration or a picture book to represent the diversity we have here at White Oaks. The book will feature in the ‘Book Nook’ on Heritage Day then will be part of the school library collection. Donations can be dropped off in the box by the front office!
Heritage Day Is Coming! Dress to Celebrate
White Oaks is a beautiful mix of cultures, traditions, and stories, and Heritage Day is a chance to celebrate them all! On Wednesday, March 18, students are invited to come to school dressed in traditional clothing that represents their heritage or wearing the colors of the flag from the country their heritage is from. It’s a fun and meaningful way for students to share and celebrate the cultures that make our community so special. A quick note for families: please make sure your child’s outfit is something they can easily take off by themselves if needed during the school day. This helps keep classroom routines running smoothly for everyone. We can’t wait to see our school filled with color, culture, and pride from around the world!

I’m Barbara Taylor, WO’s new SEDAC parent representative and co-chair of the Culture & Belonging PTA Committee. If your child needs or receives special education or additional support services, SEDAC is relevant to you! (Anny - is it poss to put the questions below in bold text?)
What is SEDAC?
SEDAC is the Special Education District Advisory Council for San Carlos School District.
What does SEDAC do?
The focus of our work is to help SCSD best serve students with additional support needs through: - Providing input on district programs, policies, and procedures. - Sharing key issues, feedback, and successful initiatives to strengthen and expand programs across all campuses. - Organizing the annual Ability Awareness Week each March to promote understanding and inclusion. This year it's w/c March 16th. It kicks off with a movie night (Finding Nemo) on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 6 p.m. at Heather's MU. SEDAC also recently held a parent information session and you can access the slides here.
Email me at [email protected] to share ideas or input about special education that you would like me to raise at our SEDAC meetings, or if you want more information about SEDAC. Please note, I can’t assist with your child's own individual SST, 504, or IEP matters. Please reach out to Principal Tong with any questions or concerns about your child's educational program.
