From the Principal
Dear Families,
“Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!”
Dr. Seuss’s Birthday is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2, which happens to be tomorrow! Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books, and you can too! Throughout the upcoming week, make some extra time to read with your children, take them to the library and find your favorite Dr. Seuss book, or check out these fun ideas.
At White Oaks, we will be celebrating with Pajama Day on Wednesday, March 4. Teachers will be communicating with you about specific items students can bring with them from home. Happy birthday, Dr. Seuss!
Sincerely,
Leah Scholer, Principal

Does your child say, "I can't do this" or "It's too hard?" How do we help students overcome anxiety about not wanting to fail? Or those that have a hard time sitting still or concentrating? We know positive emotions increase learning. We are thrilled to have Matt Steinborn, School Psychologist in the San Carlos School District and Certified Advanced Nurtured Heart Approach Trainer lead us in our learning. He will share examples of how tutors and parents can use social/emotional learning tools and behavioral tips to help their students. Want to tutor? Census 2020
Every 10 years, the federal government is required to count all residents in the United States through a national census. The 2020 Census gets underway in April and it is vitally important that every resident in the county be counted to secure federal funding for our schools & communities! The Census determines how the Federal government distributes nearly $700 billion a year to states and counties.
Every residence will receive an invitation in the mail to complete the Census Questionnaire by April 1, 2020. Make sure someone in your household is responsible for filling out the form. It can be completed online, by phone or by mail in different languages.
Visit the County of San Mateo - Government's Census page for more information.
