Principals Message

Dear White Oaks families,

Survey Reminder
As partners in education, your feedback and insights are invaluable to us. We're committed to continuously improving our school community, and your participation in our upcoming survey is crucial in this endeavor.

Click here for the survey link. If you have multiple children at WO, please complete one survey per family.

Report Cards
As a reminder, report cards will be sent home by Friday, Mar. 15. Some teachers may send home the report card in the Green Folders on Monday but all report cards will be sent home by Friday. Your classroom teacher will let you know when to expect them.

LCAP Feedback
The LCAP is a three-year plan that describes the goals, actions, services, and expenditures to support positive student outcomes that address state and local priorities. The LCAP provides an opportunity for our school district to share their stories of how, what, and why programs and services are selected to meet their local needs.

The district is in the gathering input from all educational partners in the following areas:

  • Assessment of progress toward goal attainment in the 2021-2024 LCAP

  • Is the District achieving its LCAP Goals?

  • Are there actions that need to be continued/tweaked?

  • Receive input on the development of draft goals for the 2024-2027 LCAP

  • Receive input on actions and metrics that will be used in the 2024-27 LCAP

Parents at White Oaks have an opportunity to provide input into our LCAP goals by attending either our School Site Council meeting on Mar. 14 at 3:00 p.m. via Zoom or our PTA meeting on Mar. 13 at 6:00 p.m. in the MU. If you would like to attend the Site Council meeting, please reach out to Ms. Scholer for the Zoom link.

Warmly,
Leah Scholer
Principal

Fund-the-Future of STEM Education in Our Schools

SCEF works with the Superintendent every year to identify a need in San Carlos schools that would benefit from a targeted fundraising effort. These are funds we raise above and beyond our ongoing support for educator positions, counseling, libraries, music, technology, PTA budgets etc. Donations are restricted to a fund that will be used to provide supplies, materials, equipment for students and professional development for teachers to aid STEM and project based learning in the classroom. Watch our video and learn more here.

District News

Ability Awareness Week is Mar. 18-22

SCSD is gearing up for Ability Awareness Week across all grade levels. Our collective goal during this week is to foster mutual understanding and appreciation, emphasizing our commitment to inclusivity across various student differences, including neurodivergent individuals and those with diverse abilities.

All students will have a chance to engage in a set of common experiences through activities already taking place on campus to spark discussion, increase understanding and to celebrate our differences.

Join us for Movie Night on Mar. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at Heather Elementary!

SEDAC (Special Education District Advisory Council) strives to educate our students and learning communities about ways to honor and include the unique strengths and differences each member of our community contributes. SEDAC takes a leading role in encouraging us all to adopt an assets-based, strength-first approach when considering individuals, fostering compassionate inclusion and accommodation of differences and limitations.

The Rite Of Passage ExperienceS (ROPES) program is an optional enrichment activity for students in SCSD. 4th, 6th, and 8th graders choose a self-directed project that incorporates the 21st-century learning skills of initiative, inquiry, creativity, communication, cooperation, and leadership. The students present their projects to a panel of community members to receive their rope, to be worn at 8th grade graduation.

We're searching for parents, staff and members of the community to become panelists for ROPES presentations Mar. 26, 27, and 28. Join us and become a member of our panelist group today! Sign up here

Select one or more days/times to volunteer in person:

  • Tuesday, Mar. 26 4:00-6:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Mar. 27 2:30-5:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Mar. 28 6:00-8:30 p.m.

The training session for all (new and seasoned) panelists will be Wednesday, Mar. 13 from 7:00-7:45 p.m. Join us on Zoom! Training will be recorded and available on our website. Email [email protected] if you have any questions.
