From the Principal
Happy New Year!
January is an exciting month at school! During the winter months ahead, students often leap forward socially, academically, and emotionally. With maturity, students begin to apply skills with more confidence and depth. We’re watching for each child’s readiness to stretch, celebrating and supporting progress along the way. This month, teachers will assess students to measure progress on goals set in October, and also determine new goals for the months ahead. As part of this process, teachers also will support students in reflecting on their own progress.
Here’s what you can expect:
Report cards will be sent home on January 26th, with updates on your child’s progress towards October goals written in the comments box.
A cover letter will be attached to the report card with a reminder about our pilot approach, and what to expect for the remainder of the school year.
Regular work samples will continue to be sent home across subject areas so that you can see how your child is growing.
Regular classroom newsletters will continue to be sent home with information on what your child is learning and tips for how you can help at home.
Homework menus tailored to each grade level updated in the winter and spring.
- A second conference may be scheduled for some students, per teacher discretion. Conversations will occur before and after school hours in February.
- All parents are invited to contact the teacher at any time to ask questions about their child’s learning.
We look forward to supporting your child’s success and happiness in 2018! Go, kids!
