Volunteering before, during, or after school hours is a great way to observe the school community in action and learn more about White Oaks.
Art In Action
Trained parent volunteers, called Art Docents, use classic works by great artists to enhance students’ knowledge and appreciation of the artist, as well as art history and media types and techniques. Students then create their own original masterpieces, which reinforce the concepts and techniques they discussed when viewing the artist’s work.
Please contact Mary Rosen if you are able to help: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hot Lunch Parent Volunteers
Volunteers work just one or two hours per month, and you’ll have the opportunity to interact with students of all grade levels. Great for moms and dads, your shift begins at 11:45am to help set up the lunch room and then help the students gather their lunches as they file through the lunch room. Your shift ends at approximately 12:40pm. BONUS: YOU EARN FREE LUNCHES FOR YOUR STUDENT(S) WITH EACH SHIFT!! Please contact Erin Grant to volunteer.
Healthy Cities Tutoring Program
Healthy Cities Tutoring trains and places volunteers from the community to tutor and mentor students in our schools. Volunteers work approximately 45 minutes per week and scheduling is flexible - before, during or after school. You can be placed with a student at White Oaks or any district school of your choice. Parents, grandparents, relatives, and students 14 years of age and older are all welcome to participate. Please contact JR Bae for more information or go to the website at: http://www.healthycitiestutoring.org.
White Oaks' teachers need a variety of support in the classroom, from coordinating events, assisting with reading and math groups or gardening activities. If you have a flexible schedule, please considering devoting an hour a week. It makes a difference! Please contact your child’s teacher to volunteer. You’ll have as much fun as the children!
PTA Special Events
Be a part of one of the best ways to meet and connect with other parents and families. Volunteering for one of the many PTA sponsored events is a wonderful way to share experiences that make your child’s school day truly memorable. You can also contribute in a meaningful way by taking on a leadership position in the White Oaks PTA. Contact email@example.com for more information on how you can lend a hand.
Every year the PTA organizes School Beautification Days to maintain and improve the school’s grounds. To be a part of the transformation, please contact Angela Holloszy if you are able to help: firstname.lastname@example.org.
